Meet the Doctors
David Petersen, D.D.S.
Dr. David Petersen opened his dental practice in 1975 in north Spokane and has been at his current location since 1988. He is a native of Wenatchee, WA, and attended Washington State University on a football scholarship. After graduating from the University of Washington School of Dentistry, he completed a Rotating Dental Internship with the U.S. Army.

Dr. Petersen is an active member of the Spokane District Dental Society, Washington State Dental Association, and American Dental Association. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fouchard Academy. Dr. Petersen's interest in the advancement of the dental profession has inspired him to accept many dental-related leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels during his career, including presidency of the Spokane District Dental Society and the Washington State Dental Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Washington Oral Health Foundation, having chaired the organization for several years.

In his free time, Dr. Petersen enjoys golfing, skiing, relaxing at Lake Coeur d'Alene, supporting his beloved WSU Cougar athletic teams, and spending time with his family. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Patti, since 1968 and they have two grown children. Their son, Brian, is a radiologist in Colorado and their daughter, Lissa, is a dentist, practicing with her proud father.

Lissa Johnson, D.D.S.
Dr. Lissa Johnson joined forces with her father, Dr. David Petersen, and the rest of the Petersen Family Dentistry team in July of 2005. She was born and raised in Spokane and is a graduate of Ferris High School. She attended the University of Puget Sound, where she played volleyball and majored in Chemistry. After graduating from the University of Washington School of Dentistry, Dr. Johnson continued her education at the University of Michigan with a one-year residency in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program. She then worked in private practice for two years before returning to the Northwest.

Dr. Johnson is a member of the Spokane District Dental Society, Washington State Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. She also participates in continuing education programs.

In her free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys golfing, cooking, spending time at Lake Coeur d'Alene and skiing. Her husband, Dr. Josh Johnson, is an orthodontist in Spokane and they are proud parents of two active boys.
